I create mosaic artwork from reclaimed and found lumber. My goal is to use 100% reclaimed materials including wood, lath, metal, paint, and textiles. The aesthetic of my work reflects a rustic bohemian vibe with a Pacific Northwest flare focusing on mountain landscapes, geometric patterns, and hammered metal accents.

  • Consciously Crafted Jewelry

I create jewelry from used bicycle and motorcycle inner tubes. To make jewelry from inner tubes I have to cut them open and wash them with soap and water. I then cut them into long strips, paint the strips and then use scissors to hand cut various shapes. Some of my earrings are simple geometric shapes but I love cutting feather shapes and creating beautiful dangling "feather" earrings. I design necklaces using the same feather shapes, and have branched out into cutting other geometrical shapes to use as earring components as well. I make arm cuffs using leather punches and a hammer against a wood block. I've been told that the cuff's intricate design, when worn on ones arm, are often mistaken for tattoos. My jewelry is very lightweight; and I love that when folks learn that it is made from inner tubes, they are always surprised. I love that my jewelry gets this reaction. Creating something pretty, using a material not usually associated with beauty is a challenge I really enjoy. I want to inspire people to think differently about what can be used to make art, to look around at all of the things they deem "garbage" and try to imagine what else can be constructed from it. I hope that my jewelry inspires more conversations about reusing/recycling and what can be produced with "trash" and a little ingenuity.

  • Designs by Jan Lough

My husband and I make women's jackets & trenchcoats with our own designs. We cut up sweatshirts, redesign & sew them back into cute and popular styles. I try to use every part of the sweatshirt in this process. The button loops are the ribbing of the shirts and many of our buttons are from coconut shells that would otherwise be discarded. We also make scarfs from tshirts and hats that we embellish from scrap fabrics, lace, burlap, buttons zipper and trims. Even the sleeves of the t-shirts are used for the flower embellishments.

  • Don Perry Metal Art

When my job of 17 years (in a local mill) went by the wayside, I decided to use my skills with a plasma cutter and repurposed one of their discarded byproducts (saw blades) in a new direction — art. My work is done with a plasma cutter, electrically heated air. All of my pieces are hand cut by me. Some of the art is mounted on either rocks or driftwood. Living close to Mt. Hood, I sometimes use lava rock or quartz. When at the coast I look for unique pieces of driftwood to incorporate into pieces. I try to do natural processes and not use chemicals. The pieces that are a rusty patina are all left at the coast to rust to a natural fine patina that only comes from salt air. The blues in high carbon steel and the gold in the stainless steel all come from heating the metal with a torch. My studios are at my home in Parkdale, Oregon and Surfside Washington.

I am an artist focused on reclamation of unwanted material, I turn the unwanted into something new. All of the material I choose to work with originates from something that was destined for the waste stream. My hand made finished works contain metal of all varieties. When available I love to work with old tanks, appliances, tools, or general knick knacks which are no longer wanted. I also create mixed media pieces; incorporating wood, glass, or plastics into my work. I also enjoy having functional pieces for fires, or vines to climb on. I severed as a 501c board member for CrackedPots.org for two years who’s mission is about recycling education through the arts. I frequently collaborate with other artists for special shows or unique custom orders. I am represented in several Northwest Galleries, public installations, have had work showcased in Museums world wide and regularly specialized local events.

  • Joshdailyart

Josh Daily is a Portland, Oregon based metal and found material sculpture artist. He has been making found art/industrial sculptures for over 20 years. His subjects are usually people or animals, along with re-purposed eccentric, but functional furniture. He uses a variety of materials from all kinds of metal, to construction waste, to everyday household items. Often it entails getting to the guts of things like old vacuum cleaners, typewriters, or any type of mechanical device. Taking things apart usually takes longer than building the sculpture itself. He likes to use old conduit, plastic material, or anything that will take decades to biodegrade - if at all.

Most of our metal work, including plates, chain, cuffs, earrings, pendants comes from recycled metals (copper, sterling silver, and bronze) that we handform. We also make our stamping and chasing tools from old tool steel, such as wrenches, bolts and metal files.

I then paint them using my interpretation of method used in the late 1800s called Poorman's China, to give my pieces a leather like finish. • Zephyr's Arts

I sandblast images onto bottles, found windows and other items to give them new life. Sometimes I add solar or battery powered lights to the bottles to add a special focus. Lately I have been making " Wrist Toasties" from discarded, accidentally felted sweaters and scrap fabrics. They warm the wrists while leaving the fingers free to create! And my son, who is 11, creates origami earrings (so tiny) and origami dioramas from magazine paper, bottles, and other throw away items.
