I create furniture and artwork using a combination of salvaged lumber, 100+ year old metal supports, family heirlooms, knick-knacks and vintage drawers, fireplace screens and windows. Large slabs of wood are like looking at a fire— the grains and figures throughout wood can showcase many years of our past.
I obtain my salvage lumber from sawyers who specialize in suburban forestry, saving trees that would otherwise be destined for the landfill. I get many of my vintage metal from garage sales, 2nd hand stores, and auctions. Combining these with old metal that was perhaps new when the seedling was first born, both marries and preserves the past in a unique and positive way.
